Regular users of articleland will have noticed the site has been down for a few weeks. This has been the result of a serious database error, which we are glad to say has now been resolved (touch wood!).

We have lost some data, approximately 5% of the data in the database has become corrupt. This was because the table used to record articles kept crashing. Most people will find that their articles are just fine but if you have been affected please accept our apologies and resubmit your articles.

We have thousands of authors registered on Article Land, in fact almost 8,000. Who between them have submitted over 80,000 articles. But are these authors getting the most of their experience and using all the facilities available to them? Below I have highlighted some useful tools and resources that can be found on the site.

1. First off is this blog. We offer some excellent advice to our authors and also post the latest news and events from Article Land. There are some FREE ebooks available too on the blog and we will be adding more and more as time goes by.

2. The article directory itself has built in blogs, which are being used by some of the most savvy authors. The blogs auto-submit to the best blog directories and are available to everyone.

3. Forums - We have recently put up user forums for everyone to use. They are an excellent way of promoting your site, corresponding with like minded users and contacting admin.

4. Reciprocal linking - We offer a reciprocal linking process. If you want a link back to your site from a high PR article directory go links.

5. Widgets - Would you like a widget showing your articles on your own website? These can be constructed on the widgets page. An excellent way to reduce the amount of linking needed to show off your articles.

6. Advertising - If you would like to advertize on Article Land please contact admin via the Contact Us link. We can offer banner advertising, text links, or small graphic links. All these links go site wide, which at present is over 80,000 pages. That’s what I call exposure.

7. Proof Reading - If you would like your articles proof read, prior to publishing, again use the Contact Us link. We can offer this service, predominantly to authors whose first language is not English, for $1 per article.

8. Social Bookmarking - Under each of your articles you will find bookmarking buttons. Bookmark your articles on as many sites as you can as it creates good link value for your article. You will get traffic from sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, REddit, etc… The more you bookmark the more traffic your articles will receive. Read my blog post on Social Bookmarking for more information.

9. Finally I’d like to mention an excellent resource, which is totally free, and will explode your blog or web site traffic. It’s the Authority Black Book. It’s full of excellent tips to get your blog or website working like it’s on steroids. Go get it, its totally free.

10. Sorry another excellent free resource is the 30 Day Challenge. This is an online training course thats runs over 30 days, teaching people how to make their first $10 online. If you are new to internet marketing or even a seasoned pro, you will learn so much. I know I did last year. It’s about to start again for 2008, it’s currently in pre-season, getting people set up with the tools of the trade (all free tools I should add), so get in now. Note if any of you want to team up, use the Contact Us link again.

OK, thats just about it for now. Have fun!

Over recent months we have been conducting many experiments in relation to Social Bookmarking and we can categorically state that it is without doubt one of the best ways to generate traffic to your websites, blogs and articles.

Everytime we posted to StumbleUpon, it generated 100 sites visits. Each post on Reddit generated similar traffic. In addition, we used many other bookmarking sites and each produced good traffic.

We were using about 8 Social Bookmarking sites and also OnlyWire. This one promotes your content automatically for you.

There is one problem with these sites and that is you can only bookmark your page once, so in the long run once you have posted your websites what do you do next?

Well simply, write articles and post the links to your articles to each of the sites. You can also do this with blog posts and any other posts you make. Each article, blog, etc… should link back to your website or pages within your website.

The sites we use are:

Only Wire (Posts to approx 20 social bookmarking sites)

Stumble Upon

Digg

Propeller

Reddit

Shoutwire

Plime

Newsvine

PlugIM (revenue sharing option with this one)

MarkTD

Note: Onlywire submits to about 20 bookmarking sites including Del.icio.us

One way to improve your site rankings is to bookmark each of your articles on Article Land. This will achieve 2 things:

1. It will provide useful backlinks to your articles, which providing you have setup your resource box correctly link back to your site from Article Land. This gives good PR links and the links are one way, which Google loves.

2. It improves the ranking of Article Land. This will enable Article Land to retain or improve its current ranking in the Search Engines, which drives traffic to everyones pages.

Our top viewed article, has had over 6,000 views, mainly from search engine traffic.

So, go to each of the links above and create an account, then start bookmarking your sites. Make sure they are publically viewable.

A resource I use a lot is Social Power Linking, a website set up by Jack Humphrey. This guy knows his stuff and we have learned a lot from him.

I hope this was of use to you.

Article Marketing has become very popular in recent years. Many people see article marketing as an easy way to make an avalanche (see what I did there!) of money online. However, many people find it difficult to create their own, unique articles, but there are many ways of getting the articles you require…

Traffic Ramp Up

In this special report, you will get a close look at traffic generation tips that are easily accessible by anyone – even if you are a total newbie at Internet marketing. This is not a get rich quick scheme, it is not the holy grail of traffic domination, it is, however, a compilation of traffic generating methods that work for me, and if utilized correctly can work for you too…

We have been doing an aweful lot of work on the site in the background recently, which is why you may have noticed your articles are taking a little longer to approve. However, we are nearing the end of this process and we have some exciting new developments on the way.

First up, we have already published the new site design, as you’ve probably noticed, which contains some neat graphics we had done by a colleague from UK Webmasters Forum. We hope you like them.

Over the coming weeks we will be introducing:

1. An ‘As Featured’ button for use on your own websites. This will enable you to easily link back to the articles you have placed on Article Land.

2. The introduction of a Widget that displays your recent articles. Again this can be displayed on your website linking back to your articles on Article Land. Why make it difficult for your readers to find your content when this widget does it for you.

3. The forums have been introduced. Not much activity at present, so pop along and make a post, they are there for you.

4. We can offer a proof reading service for our foreign writers. This starts at $1 per article. Just send an eail to Admin to request this service.

5. Advertising on Article Land could never have been easier. We offer text links, banner space or graphical adverts. Again contact Admin to discuss rates.

6. The blog function has been used quite extensively by Authors in the past. This function is free for you to use and automatically pings the best blog directories when you submit. The link is on the homepage of Article Land.

Finally don’t forget, use the social marketing buttons on your own articles. This will generate immediate traffic to your posts and also helps us.

If you have any ideas to improve Article Land please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards
